LATEST SCENES FROM THE PGT

Ninebark (Physocarpus opulifolius) is a great shrub for native landscapes. It grows 3-10 feet tall, flowers May-June, has red berries in the fall and interesting, shredding bark.The flowers are 1/4 inch in size.

 

The western painted turtle (Chrysemys picta bell) is an aquatic turtle with a carapace that grows 3-7 inches in length. It's found in slow-moving rivers, lakes, ponds and marshes, basking on logs or foraging in the water during the day or resting in the water at night. (This one was was walking on the ground around the swamp area at the PGT. It may be a female that was looking for a place to lay eggs.)

 

The water lily pond is full of water lilies (Nymphaea odorata), which bloom during the day and close when the light is low. This species is native to the eastern half of North America.
